There is a new constable in the Hanna RCMP office. Cst. Chad Langsfeld has joined the RCMP detachment from Depot in Regina. This will be his first post in his policing career. There is quite a process to become an RCMP officer.
"The application process was just over a year from the time I sent in my application until I got the call to go to Depot and then Depot was a six-month stint in Regina," explained Cst. Langsfeld.
After training, new officers like Cst. Langsfeld, have the opportunity to choose what province they would like to work in. "We pick our top three and they tell us which province. They say 'give us your top fifteen places you want to go in the province' and then they just send you to one of them. You just get a call and said this is where you are going, you're going to Hanna."
Cst. Langsfeld is looking forward to working in Hanna as he is not that far from home, Calgary. He is looking forward to meeting the people and exploring the area.
With the addition of Cst. Langsfeld, the Hanna detachment has a full complement of officers.
