The Drumheller Valley Bus Society held their annual general meeting this past week and a few new faces joined the team.
"We have a new president and a new vice president, so that's exciting. We still are looking for one member at large to join our board, so if there's anyone out there they are more than welcome to give us a call to know more on what's involved," stated Tara McMillan with the Valley Bus Society.
The bus provides a mode of transportation for Drumheller's senior residents in and around town and the board is considering creating set schedules at the lodges, manors and the Pioneer Centre.
"We are considering having set bus schedules at certain times a day so people know when they can catch a ride. We are also looking at expanding with our capabilities on conferences and shuttling people back and forth to hotels," McMillan explained.
During the AGM, the board looked back at their the fares over the past years.
"There hasn't' been a fare increasing since 2003. Part of our survey is to get feedback to get back on what people think is a fair fare for the bus and all kind of great things," McMillan outlined.
There will be a new bus coming to town in a few weeks that is currently in production.
"They are all handicap accessible so wheelchairs and seniors with walkers can walk right into the bus without the worry of stairs in a regular bus."
