When someone first suggested that Tony Lacher run for Town Council, he said no. When it was suggested a second time, he said it still wasn't time.
Three years ago when he retired from a long career at ATB, Lacher decided he would run in 2017, because he finally felt able to do the position justice now that he could devote his full attention to the role of Town Councillor.
"I decided to run for Town Council this term to see some change: a positive community, a growing community, one that's vibrant and can attract businesses and small families."
Lacher has been involved in the community since he and his wife moved here in 1996. In addition to sitting on Council, Lacher has been appointed to six municipal boards.
"The committees I was appointed to are Community Futures -- which fits with my background in finance -- Valley Bus, the Aqua 7 Steering Committee, Municipal Planning Committee, Community Standards Appeal Board and the Assessment Review Board."
Although he's got a mountain of reading material to get through, Lacher remains in good spirits and is thankful to Drumheller for this opportunity.
"I'd like to thank all of the people that put me into office. I'm looking forward to serving the community the best I can."
