The Drumheller and District Chamber of Commerce is starting up a new business lunch series for the Drumheller community.
"The Lunch and Learns' are essentially just an opportunity for people in the community to network and learn about different topics that are pertinent to the business community while having lunch," stated Marley Henneigh, Chamber Services Coordinator.
The Chamber of Commerce want to give the opportunity for the local business to learn and network, but they know that most are extremely busy.
"People want to network and get out there to become educated and become part of the business community, but they're just so swamped. We thought most people have a lunch break at some sort during the day and can probably get away once a month, so we're hoping this is a good opportunity to do that," Henneigh added.
There will be a variety of topics that will be educational to the business community and as Henneigh mentioned, the public is always welcome.
"They will be scheduled to have a networking portion, so they'll typically run from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 and give about 10 or 20 minutes for networking, checking in and grabbing your lunch and then a speaker presentation. At the end, we'll have some Chamber highlights and extra information."
So far, the Drumheller Chamber has six different Lunch and Learn series scheduled, which are all listed on their website.
The first Lunch and Learn series will be on Tuesday, February 21 at the Cretaceous Conference Centre.
"We are very excited for our first presentation and it's a big opportunity for Drumheller. We're having Mark Scholz come and speak on the Oil Respect campaign. he is the President of the Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors and last year they started up their Oil Respect campaign that got a lot of publicity for Canada's oil and gas industry," explained Henneigh.
Tickets are required for the event and they are only $15.
"We do need people to purchase tickets in advance as we will be providing lunch with it. They can get those tickets over at drumhellerchamber.com or call us at (403)-823-8100," Henneigh outlined.
"Because of that holiday Monday, our deadline will be noon on February 17. I imagine it will go fast, so I encourage people to get them as quick as they can."
