The Badlands Community Facility Art Gallery is switching things up.

The gallery will now feature new paintings from southern galleries from the Alberta Community Art Club Association (ACACA).

"We are doing the set up for the Alberta wide show for the Alberta Community Art Club Association. We have some of the other board members here.  These paintings that are in the BCF gallery in Drumheller are from two different zone shows. The north and central artists who entered their work," explained ACACA President Linda Larochelle Wilson.

The paintings are set to be judged in different categories. The twelve winners will be sent to the Alberta Spirit Show in Edmonton at the Visual Arts Alberta Association building.

The vision for the club started with University of Alberta professor Harry Woulforth.

"He decided, in his great wisdom, that he wanted to have an art club that would encompass all of Alberta residents who could not get to the cities to galleries. So, he went out into the rural areas of the province, and tried to get people to come onboard and be a part of an Alberta-wide art club," told Larochelle Wilson.

Larochelle Wilson loves the idea, as many smaller communities do not offer art programs.

"I think it is important because a lot of students in rural communities, they don't get any art instruction. I know when I grew up I had to take it by correspondents and I come from a small town," said Larochelle Wilson.

The gallery will be open at the BCF until July 29th.
