The 77th annual Drumheller and District Music Festival comes to a close this Friday, March 31 at the Badlands Community Facility.

The Festival has been going almost every day since it kicked off on Monday, March 20. The final discipline is Speech on Thursday morning at Kaleidoscope Theatre.

Emily Bertsch competed in Vocal this past Monday to wrap her 10th year of performing in the Festival.

"It was really good this year," she told 99.5 Drum FM. "We had amazing adjudicators, less Drumheller people in it, but a lot of new people from Strathmore and different areas."

"When you talk to other musicians, say I introduce (that) I'm from Drumheller, they always talk about Drumheller Music Festival, coming to perform in it and how kind everyone is and welcoming and I agree. It's a very exciting atmosphere."

Bertsch also competed in Musical Theatre this year and will be performing with her sister, Erin, at the final concert.

"Me and my sister will be performing a duet: we are singing more of a folk song, but it was in the Pop Movie/TV category and it's called Bridge Over Troubled Water by Paul Simon."

This is Bertsch's final Music Festival before she heads off to University in the fall.
