The community of Munson turned out en masse on Sunday morning for breakfast. The new community hall was packed for the annual fundraiser for the Starland County Fire Department, which operates out of the new Munson Fire Hall.

"We've held this breakfast for 19 years: it's just a way to fundraise to buy needed equipment or pay for some training, you know, the needs of the fire department," informed Fire Chief Steve Wannstrom. "There's always a wish list and there's always upgrading. Things only last so long until they need to be upgraded, so there's always something to buy."

"It's been a great year," he continued. "We've got a spectacular hall to work out of now with lots of room and it's going to be a great asset."

"We're right at 17 members right now. We've been lucky; we've held that number probably for almost 30 years that I know of that we've had the same amount of members."

Sunday's breakfast was prepared and dished up by volunteer firefighters in uniform.
