On Thursday October 11th, Drumheller RCMP responded to a rural property near the canyon and found a stolen truck with a man passed out in the driver's seat. The complainant told police that there were two other males who exited the vehicle and whose whereabouts were unknown.
"The other two had fled from the area, but lucky for us, we had the police dog and the emergency response team in the area training, so they were able to assist," recalled Corporal Gerald Sherk, the detachment's acting commander. "That was probably all the vehicles that people noticed driving around."
Brent Steven Twilley, age 28, of Drumheller is charged with possession of stolen property.
"A few hours later, those same suspects were found at a residence here in Drumheller," Sherk continued. "Our member who attended managed to arrest one of them, who then fought and ran, jumped in another stolen vehicle and fled from the area."
Arrest warrants have been issued for that man, as well as a female associate. We don't have their names.
"Even if we can't do a lot about that specific incident, getting that intelligence of where someone is breaking in or stealing or engaging in criminal activity can really help connect other parts of a puzzle together," noted Sherk. "The more information we have the better we are to actually target the people who are causing these issues."
