The Western Financial Group has made a big donation to a local fire department. The Morrin Fire Department was the recipient of a $5,000 cheque presented to them as part of the Western Communities Foundation, the charitable arm of Western Financial Group.

"It came about through our Western Communities Foundation. What we do as a branch has various fundraisers throughout the year that support the Western Community Foundation, and once we reach those goals to raise those funds throughout the branch, we are granted $5,000 that we can give to a good community cause," explained Branch Manager, Roxanne Clark.

The branch chose the Morrin Fire Department to receive the money to help keep the line of defence going.

"I know that the guys needed new turnout gear. A lot of the gear they actually have is quite outdated."

"So that is something they are desperately in need of. The guys that don't have the updated turn out gear can't actually be at the front of the fire because it is actually not safe for them," concluded Clark.
