Back in October of 2016, the roof to the Midland Hall caught fire, but the building is in the process of being renovated.

"We've got through the framing stage right now, electricians are finishing in their rough-in and same with the plumbers. We're hoping to start the drywall stage here in the next week or so," stated James Martin with TM Martin Construction.

The damage done to the building was fairly extensive.

"We had to replace the whole front entrance, bathrooms took a big hit and same with the ceiling and roof. So far everything is coming along on schedule, it's patched up and we're moving along," Martin explained. midland hall reno 2

Martin mentioned to 99.5 Drum FM that all supplies have been purchased locally.

"We like to support our local Co-op and all the guys that are doing the plumbing (and) electrical are all local as well; we've got Samuel's Plumbing and Heating, Kashuba Heating and M&M Electric."

So, when will the renovations be completed?

"We're trying to get it done as quick as we can, you run into a hiccup here and there, but we're going strong. Hopefully we'll be done at some point this summer so everyone can get going with Bingo again and just enjoy the hall," concluded Martin.
