They're going to do something this week in Drumheller's Midland neighborhood that they haven't done for almost a year and a half.
This Thursday, January 18 is bingo night at the Midland Community Hall.
"It's been almost a year and a half that we haven't been able to run bingos. Having to deal with the insurance and then having to get everything repaired has been a lengthy process," noted Angela McLellan, who sits on the Midland Community Association board of directors. "It's finally finished, we're back up and running at the hall and we're ready to start our bingos again."
The hall in the community on North Dinosaur Trail was closed after roofers accidentally started a fire in October, 2016. Because of smoke and other damage, a complete refurbishment of the building was done.
Everything went really smoothly; we were able to hire and work with local contractors, which is always really nice," stated McLellan. "There's a couple things that need to be finished up still, but for the most part, everything's up and running and ready to go."
"We're hoping to have a really excellent fund raiser coming up this September," she added. "We will know that (by the) end of February."
