Drumheller will make a noise in the heavy metal music world this summer as the valley's annual festival returns to the Stampede Barn for the sixth year.
"We went ahead and got a band out of Detroit, Michigan that's really big on the metal scene right now," reported festival organizer Geoff Bourrie. "They're called Battlecross: they've been on some big world tours, they've been in all the major festivals around the world (like) Ozzfest and Mayhem Festival, so these guys are a pretty major player."
"We've gone to 40 bands this year, which we've never done," he continued.
As it always is, the festival will take place on the August long weekend, August 4-6, 2017 and Bourrie believes they may sell out all three days.
"With the rumours that there will be no Heavy Montreal this year, the Toronto Metal Festival is not going as well, Calgary Metal Fest is having a year off, it's our time to capitalize," stated Bourrie. " There's not a lot of these going this year so let's make it the biggest and best we possibly can."
