Last week, Greentree Mall tenants were issued eviction notices.
Two out of the few tenants who occupy space at the Greentree Mall were already on their way out of the soon to be shut down mall, but one's future is up in the air.
Kreations Photography, owned by Christina Crossey, received her eviction notice from the space she currently rents in Greentree Mall on October 29, 2018.
Crossey said that she was expecting it but it is still something difficult for her to process.
"It was scary personally because you don't know what to do. You have no choice. You have to move," Crossey said. "Where to?"
Crossey, as upset as she is in her current situation, understands that business is business but it doesn't help the big choices that she must make for her business in the very near future.
"We're trying to stay as long as we can. The cost of anything out there is going to cost us more but we're looking for a place now. It's just when it becomes available. We have until March," Crossey admitted.
The eviction notice served by Westview Co-operative Association Limited to the tenants of Greentree Mall, according to Crossey, states that tenants have until March 1, 2019, to relocate and that it was a difficult choice to provide a termination letter to all the businesses in operation.
"November and December is just going to zoom on by and before you know it the new year is here and then it's time to panic," Crossey concluded. "I don't want to be panicking. I want to have something lined up before that. It's just trying to figure out where."
Crossey is confident she and her business will find a new home in the near future but for now, she will concentrate on all her possible outcomes.
DrumFM and Drumheller Online have reached out to Westview Co-operative Association Limited for further comments and information about the mall and its future as well as the eviction notices served but have not received a reply at the time of this publishing.
