A local man who recently started college has decided to become a bull rider.

Joseph Faubion always had a passion and dream to become a bull rider and thanks to a group at Olds College, his dream can become a reality.

"I've always kind of wanted to be in the rodeo, always had a fascination with it I guess. Since I had a rodeo team (at Olds), it seemed like a perfectly good time to join," stated Faubion.

Faubion reported to 99.5 Drum FM that he's only ridden once so far, but he's been practising for a few months now and hopes to compete within the near future.

"Hopefully (I) will be. I just started so it will be a while until we get into another college rodeo, but I'm hopefully going to be competing," mentioned Faubion.

So, what's it like riding a wild bull?

"It's hard to explain it. For the first while you kind of black out and you're just kind of in the moment, but it's hard to explain really. It does get your adrenaline going that's for sure," Faubion outlined.

Faubion expressed on how grateful he is to his family for being supportive of his dreams.

"Mom and dad are obviously nervous because you get on a pretty wild bull, but they're supportive. They can understand my choice, but they definitely give me caution."
