Young student's shirt design chosen for Greentree Elementary's Orange Shirt Day.

On Friday, September 28, schools across Canada wore orange shirts to bring awareness to Canada's history revolving residential schools.

Gavin Sisson from Greentree Elementary School designed the schools campaign logo for their 2018 awareness day.

"Ms. Walker, my teacher, she put up all of last years winners and then there was one that had the picture with the girl and the half of her head. A lot of other people were doing dream-catchers so I decided to put the two together," explained Sisson.gavin (1)Gavin Sisson

"It was a big shock. I didn't know how it came (about). I as proud of myself to be honest and it's kind of crazy when you think about it."

Sisson was recognized by his peers and teachers as Greentree kicked off their Terry Fox Run and Orange Shirt Day in the gymnasium.
