It was a day 21 years in the making as the congregation at Elim Pentacostal Tabernacle said farewell to Dan and Jenny Dannhauer.
Dan has stepped down after two decades as the Drumheller church's lead pastor.
"We are staying in Drumheller for now and i'm going to continue to do my counselling and working with my clients in the counselling field," he told 99.5 Drum FM. "I have my Masters in marriage and family therapy so we're going to continue to do that for the short term and kind of just have a full summer."
"With my Masters in marriage and family therapy, that's one of the areas we're looking more at, is opening a counselling practice," he elaborated. "I'll continue with the clients that I have here, the 50 active clients that I have right now."
Dannhauer can't believe how quickly the last 21 years have gone by and he admits leaving the pastorship is bittersweet.
"I'm going to miss being the lead pastor of the church and running our building, in some ways," he confessed. "We've made some awesome friends in this community and, of course, in our church, and just having the support of a great family."
A special ceremony was held for Dan and Jenny Dannhauer on Sunday, June 18 at Elim Pentacostal Tabernacle on 3 Street West.
