Local area Masonic lodges installed new officers to represent them on June 2nd.
Two of Drumheller's lodges gained new officers. The Symbol Lodge #93 installed Worshipful Master (WM) Mike Yavis and the Drumheller Lodge #146 installed Worshipful Master (WM) Josh Bhikoo.
Neighboring lodges, Hanna and Hussar also installed WM Derrick Wilson and WM Dallas Larson respectively as their new officers.
"Four lodges install their officers at the same time. It is the second time we have done it this way. The new guys are fairly young and energetic." said newly installed officer Mike Yavis.
As many do not know about the Masons, Yavis plans on shedding some light on their organization.
"We are trying to get out there. The two of us in Drumheller, myself and Josh (Bhikoo), are trying to show people it is not such a secret society." pointed out Yavis.
The Masons is the oldest fraternity that stretches all over the globe. The Drumheller Symbol Lodge #93 itself is 102 years old.
"Every Mason is your brother, every Mason in the world becomes your brother. Masons help Masons," explained Yavis. "If you are down and out, we come together and try and help make the situation better. When one of us dies, a part of all of us dies. Thats the wow part of it."
The Masons encourage anyone who is interested in learning about them to just ask.
