Earlier this month, a local restaurant raised thousands of dollars for STARS Air Ambulance.
Fran and Garry Nargang, operators and owners of Old Grouch's, have been holding the 24 Hour Jam for the past 11 years.
The event was held on Friday June 2 and went from 6 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday evening. The Nargang's grandson's life was saved by STARS years ago and as a way to say thanks, they put together the 24 Hour Jam.
"For STARS this was the 11th (year)," stated Fran Nargang. "In total we've probably reached $130,000."
Musician Dew Carver was the key entertainer for yet, another year of the event.
"I have $5,700 myself but then STARS had a bunch for donations and checks that people gave," explained Nargang. "So it looks pretty good, because they (STARS) figure they've got $5,000, but there's nothing definite yet. And the Town (of Drumheller) gave $5,000 again."
Through simple math, you can figure that the event raised around $15,000.
What helps in events like this, said Nargang, is a good host.
"Garry was dressed up for a while in a chicken suit and also dyed his hair red," she finished. "They then shaved off his eye-brows."
