The Drumheller Public Library and Greentree School received a hefty amount of money from Chinook Financial.

The financial branch within Drumheller donated $15,000 to the library near the end of September and according to Chinook Financial President, Kieth Richard, it was a way to give back to the community.

"I think for Chinook, we always look at opportunities to give back to our community," Richard said. "When this opportunity came up to support the school, with regards to enhance those library services, it was one we couldn't really pass up on."

According to Richard, Chinook Financial's Community Grant aims to increase the literacy of the students at Greentree and throughout the community as well as try and inspire students to pick up a good book.

"Our mission is to make money make a difference and this is a perfect example of that," explained Richard.

"It's not only about being in the community; I think there are opportunities from a fiscal responsibility stand point that if we can provide funds, especially in the area of literacy to help out in any way that we can. Everybody loves a good book."
