There is a local cat lady that is going above and beyond for mankind's favourite four-legged felines.

Peggie Ginger of Peggie's Cat Rescue has been selling 50/50 tickets to help raise money for her spay and neuter program.

"The 50/50's are going great. There was only one month where we didn't sell out all the tickets since I started since last November, and that was June. And I figure 'you know a lot of people arekittenKitten in care at Peggie's Feline Rescueon holidays.' We have sold out every other month and the split has been $1,000," explained Ginger.

The tickets are sold around different locations around town including Big Country Dental and Freson Brothers.

"It's gone well and has been well received and well supported. I am overwhelmed and so grateful because I must have got over 30 cats fixed," continued Ginger.

Ginger went on to mention that the cause is so important because it stops the increase of stray cats around town, as well as increases a cat's ability to get adopted and live a happy life.

"It is a lot of work but I am definitely not in this alone. There is a whole truck load of volunteers helping me organize what tickets have been sold, shuffling them around, where could they sell better," explained Ginger.

Ginger has her gaming license for another year and hopes to continue the draw if the demand is there.

If you would like to adopt a cat, you can call Peggy at 403-820-0534 or message her on her Facebook page, Peggie's Feline Rescue.
