Some local employees of CIBC are stretching out their muscles getting ready to hit the street for a good cause.

The annual Run For the Cure sees bank employees across the country run to raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society .

"We had our bake sale (Sep. 21) and we raised $861.30," reported Drumheller Branch Manager Pat Giffin. "That was on Friday, and then we have our basket raffles, which are going to be drawn at the end of the day on Thursday (Sep. 27)."

"Our Run For the Cure comes up this Sunday, September 30," she continued. "Our run site is Red Deer: we have Tara, myself, my friend Dale and my daughter Jess, so we've got four."

Nationally, the Run For the Cure has raised $430 million since its debut in 1992, with more than 15,000 people participating each year.

"Throughout the year, we've done our book sales and that, so some of the funds go from that. I would guess a little bit over $2,000 (total)," estimated Giffin for Drumheller's contribution this year. "Every little bit helps."
