With just over a month until Canada's 150th birthday, our town has finalized a theme for the 2017 parade.

"Essentially the theme is just celebrating Canada, but we have a fun word for the theme this year; Canadiana," stated Marley Henneigh, Chamber Services Coordinator.

"Canadiana is a fun word that means all the lovely things that make us Canadian like ideas or activities that are distinctive of Canadian cultural things."

All floats in the parade will be judged by a panel and prizes will be awarded, just like every other year.

"Each year we give out first, second and third place for all the float categories, so antique, community, sports, youth and commercial," Henneigh outlined.

Registrations need to be in by June 27.

"To register we have forms here at the Chamber or the World's Largest Dinosaur as well. We also have them available for download on our website, www.drumhellerchamber.com," Henneigh explained.

The parade route changed in 2016 and that route will be the same this year.

"If anyone isn't sure about that check out our website as the map is on there. We had good feedback on the route change as it eliminated float gaps and it made everything a lot easier for people to get down to the Splash Park for the fun Canadian Day activities," concluded Henneigh.
