On Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, representatives from Western Financial visited Greentree and St. Anthony's schools to provide some much-needed school supplies.
In August, Western Financial ran their first Krayonz for Kidz fundraiser, where community members were asked to drop off school supplies for area schools.
Cindy Bagley works at Western Financial.
"[The school supplies] came from our great community. They have done a terrific job to contribute and to help out. It was awesome and great to see."
The school supplies will be distributed to students who need them throughout the year. Although kids usually come to school prepared, as the year wears on, their supplies are sometimes not replenished at home.
In addition to school supplies, Western Financial held a barbeque fundraiser in August to raise money for the Greentree and St. Anthony's breakfast programs.
"We raised $350 and then our Western Foundation has matched that," explained Bagley. "It would be $700 altogether, so $350 for the breakfast program for Greentree and St. Anthony's."
Bagley says Western Financial hopes to run the program again next year.
"It was our first year and it was great. It turned out fantastic. We going to plan to do it now from here on in, as long as we can."
School supplies donated included pencils, notebooks, backpacks, lunch boxes and, of course, crayons. The school supplies were split equally between the two schools.
