MP for Battle River-Crowfoot, Kevin Sorenson, held a two hour town hall meeting on Monday to talk to constituents on several different topics.

"We are so thrilled to be here in Drumheller today, just listening to different constituents, dealing with issues that effect them," said Sorenson to 99.5 DrumFM. "Whereas some people think that everything is always going to be negative that you're going to bring, there are some good news stories happening, as the people of Drumheller know."

His stop was one of several he is making this week,as he was off to Three Hill after this interview.

National Police Week is this week, a topic Sorenson brought up during his two hour meet about rural crime in Alberta. He thinks rural crime is mostly related to the economy of the area. If the economy is up crime is down and vice versa.

"We're very thankful for the job our law enforcement officers do," said the MP. "Keeping people safe and making sure that people feel safe in their homes."

Sorenson also delved into the hottest topic for the day that affected most of the Drumhellerites in the room, the Phoenix Pay System. Federal employees have been missing weeks upon weeks of pay because of the system and Sorenson was there to add some more information. Unfortunately, he was not there to ease their pain.

"People are on the Phoenix system that are still frustrated," he continued. "Our office has fifty open files on federal employees not getting paid properly or on time." continued.

Through Sorenson's visit, he was able to connect with some locals with concerns and comments and encourages any member in the communities he serves to reach out to his office and talk with him.
