The kids in Hanna will not be going hungry thanks to a donation from Farm Credit Canada.

The organization donated $1,000  to J.C. Charyk School as part of their annual Drive Away Hunger campaign.

"Each local office gets to choose which school they wish to give their donation for the year. We chose J.C. Charyk School in Hanna because we try and choose schools where we have customers in the community so we can support the community," explained Mandy Celik, Relationship Management Associate for Farm Credit Canada in Drumheller.JC CHARYK

The breakfast program at J.C Charyk is still coming of age and welcomes the support.

"It is wonderful. We are fortunate that our community sees the need and they are willing to support us," said Bridget Benoit, who runs the Healthy Concession Lunch Program and Breakfast program at J.C. Charyk school.

The program, which has only been running for three years, provides a free breakfast to students in need and is available to every student at J.C. Charyk.

"The money goes to our breakfast program and it (will be used) for fresh fruit, we do whole wheat cereal, we do yogurt, oatmeal. It will grow from there, we do offer hot meals, as well, but only maybe twice a week," explained Benoit.
