St. Anthony's School had an event on Thursday to discuss the historic and current relationship between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples in Canada.
This event stems from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission from the federal government. It was one of the 94 calls to action that the commission came out with.
The school had put one on for the staff and it was requested that one be run for the general public of Drumheller.
There were 19 attendees of the event.
"Even people that have quite a bit of knowledge about First Nations, Metis, Inuit people in Canada come away from it with a greater understanding of some of the other things they have been through in the history of our country," stated Vicki Black, one of the moderators of the event.
The school was quite happy with the attendance and would love to set another event up. If you are interested please contact Vicki Black or JoAnne Ackerboom at St. Anthony's School at 403-823-3485.
