A teenaged girl is dead and a middle aged woman is in hospital with critical injuries after a highway crash west of Drumheller.
RCMP were called to a two vehicle collision on Highway 561 about three kilometres west of Hussar a little after 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8.
Investigators believe a car was heading west on the highway when it collided head-on with an SUV travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver and only occupant of the car, a 16-year-old girl, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and lone occupant of the SUV, a 50-year-old woman, was airlifted to the Foothills Hospital in Calgary in critical condition. We don't have their names.
RCMP are still trying to figure out exactly what happened.
