A locally produced film about human trafficking continues to gain attention and acclaim.

'She Has a Name,' which was financed by Drumheller native Dean Kohut, has received a Silver Crown Award for Best Drama from the International Christian Visual Media group.

"We're really excited about that: we were also nominated in the Best Picture category, so it was a real honour to be recognized among fellow film makers and to receive an international award, which is great for this independent Canadian film," said writer and producer Andrew Kooman.

The award was handed out Wednesday, June 28 at the ICVM gala in Cincinnati, Ohio.

"The issue of human trafficking is so prevalent and it's so hidden, and so we're just really pleased and excited anytime the issue gets attention," stated Kooman. "We are so proud of this film: the performances are incredible, we think the heart of the film is good. Anytime people see it, and when it gets recognized, it just really helps the cause."

"We're continuing to pursue international markets, so we're talking to some distributors internationally and we're excited about that," continued Kooman. "We have a number of projects that are in development, documentary films and feature films and two other series that could land on Netflix in the future."
