As you drive around our community, you may think you see a large amount of for sale signs in front of homes, but that is not the case. The housing market in the Drumheller area continues to move even though there has been economic doubt with the economy.
According to Heather VanDyk from RE/MAX Now in Drumheller, things have been moving. "We've actually had a very good year. In the last six months, 50 properties have sold. 43 of those being from August to January. Today on the market there are 117 houses for sale, which is pretty low."
Many homes have changed hands between people within our community but VanDyk advises there are newcomers. "There are people driving here, thinking about relocating, thinking about retiring, and people thinking about raising their kids in a smaller town." With all the amenities that Drumheller has, it makes it appealing to those looking to relocate.
With the economy the way it has been the last few years, VanDyk has noticed a small market correction. Although the correction has been small, there is still some great value in homes in the Drumheller market. In the rural market, acreages are moving but there are not many on the market as rural land prices remain high.
Even though the market is still moving there is the possibility it may take some time to move your property as VanDyk has noticed it can take over 200 days to sell a home in our market. Make sure you take that into consideration if you are looking to sell your home.
