Two big name musical performances take over the Badlands Amphitheatre on Drumheller's west end this coming weekend.

Hey Romeo opens for Randy Bachman on Saturday, August 26.

"We just finished playing in rural Saskatchewan last weekend we were in Paradise Hill which was a lot of fun. We had a great time and were treated really well," said lead singer of Hey Romeo, Rob Shapiro. "We played a little bit of the Stampede this year and we have been working on some new material."

"We have spent a couple of trips down in Nashville writing with a few of our favourite writers so that has been keeping me busy," he added.

Shapiro is originally from Drumheller.

"Canadian rock royalty, that's pretty fun to be on a rock and roll show because we are country but we're going to crank it up a notch," noted Shapiro. "Normally we'll be at Big Valley Jamboree or the Calgary Stampede with a lot of the other country acts so this will be special for us."

Country recording artists John Micheal Montgomery and Charlie Major take the stage on Friday, August 25.
