Hanna RCMP suggest to stay aware of possible hay bale thieves.

Hanna has had one reported theft of a hay bale in the area within the last few weeks.

"I know last year that their was some hay that was stolen," said Constable Chad Salmi of the Hanna RCMP.

The report suggested that the theft took place at an hour where one wouldn't normally be handling bales of hay.

"It looks like someone saw them out in a field later in the evening," Constable Salmi continued. "Like, a time you wouldn't be normally loading hay."

Hay bales can cost upwards of $50 to $70 a bale. If thefts on a single individuals property who use hay bales continued frequently, that person could face a huge financial loss.

"If you are aware of a suspicious vehicle in the area, report it to police and we'll come look for it," concluded Constable Salmi.

Reporting thefts like stolen hale bales helps local RCMP build a portfolio of different types of criminal activity. This plays the part of detachments being able to allocate the appropriate resources to help battle these types of thefts.
