Halloween night had some crime in the valley, and the same goes for Hanna.

A Hanna business saw a smash and grab incident in the early morning hours of October 31 where a small quantity of money and purchase cards were stolen.RCMP2Photo courtesy of the Hanna RCMP

The business had surveillance footage available that caught the thief in action, and the RCMP are looking to catch him.

"We are looking for the vehicle and the suspect that is in the video. It is a newer model Jeep in the video, we are not quite sure of the color yet as it is a night time video," explained Corporal Trent Sperlie. "A lone male subject. He is wearing jeans, runners, a hoodie, and a ball hat."

The explanation of the theft is unknown but Sperlie has a hunch.

"With all these thefts, its all about opportunity and timing. So, if they see the opportunity, they go after it," he continued.

The Hanna RCMP are currently investigating other surveillance footage from the nearby business that may have caught a better look at the thief, but still, welcome help from the public if they see anything.

"Give us a shout at the detachment here. Obviously, if it is an emergency situation call 9-1-1, and definitely do not approach the suspect," advised Sperlie.

You can call the Hanna RCMP at 403-854-3393 as well as Crime Stoppers.
