There were some exciting events happening at Greentree Elementary to commemorate the opening day of the Winter Games on February 9.
"We are very excited. We just held our Olympic opening ceremonies, and we have an amazing Olympic torch that was built for us," said Greentree Principal Erin Campbell-Bentley.
The staff at Greentree Elementary dug that Olympic torch out of the snow, lit it, and sang O'Canada in front of the school on Friday morning.
"We are having what used to be our Winter Sports Day, but it is now going to be our Olympic Winter Sports Day," explained Campbell-Bentley. She elaborated, explaining that they have some fun events planned for inside the gym, as well as outside!
"We've got some really neat events planned for today. so we've got some luge, some bob sled, some curling, speed skating relay race, ski jump, and four man bob sled. There [are] lots of different things that we are going to be doing."
