A local musician has landed herself as part of the CBC Searchlight contest for the third year.
"In my first year, two years ago, I made it to the second round and then last year I didn't make it through the first," recalled singer-songwriter Chelsea Murphy.
"I'm always excited about it because it challenges me as a songwriter and it's always good to get your music out there. It's a great forum to do that and I'm always excited to be part of it," Murphy expressed.
There's four rounds in the CBC Searchlight contest and it's currently in round one, also known as the Regional Semi-Finals.
"There's voting open until February 27 where the public can vote once a day, but there's also a judging panel that's made up of Canadian musicians who have criteria to look at the submissions," Murphy explained. "At the end of this round they will choose, I think, nine people from each region and then one person from each region will move forward based on votes from the public."
If you are interested in voting for Chelsea Murphy, there's a few different places to find voting links.
"If you go to CBC Music, there's a tab at the top of the website that says 'searchlight'. You do need to make a profile on the website in order to vote, but there's a very obvious vote (link) on the searchlight to go to. I also have a Facebook page for my music and you can go there for the links as well."
