Saturday April 28 was opening day for the Drumheller Golf and Country Club.
"It was fantastic! Nine hole shotgun, it started at 11:00am. We had over 80 players for the shotgun, and probably over 100 people for the day, as people trickled in throughout the day," explained golf course manager Phil McClusky.
Everyone had a lot of fun, they were eating food, having some drinks and hanging out on the patio in the nice weather.
"Greens are terrific. A little bit dry right now, we are going to get the irrigation system going in about a week. We are filling the ponds right now, and we just need the frost to come out a little bit more before we get the irrigation system going, but it is in great shape," beamed McClusky.
McClusky explained that due to Mother Nature throwing a wrench into things this year, the golf course ended up opening 25 days later than they had the previous year.
"The next big event that we want to get everybody involved in is Community Day. That is our $5.00 day. It is our way of saying thank-you to the community for all of the amazing support that we get. Whether it be golfers or our auction, which we just finished, that kind of thing," advised McClusky.
