It is officially school year in Drumheller and area. Students in the Golden Hills Division, including DVSS, Greentree and Wheatland Crossing, went back to school today.

"We like to say it's the most wonderful time of the year and we really do mean it," gushed Erin Campbell-Bentley, the Principal at Greentree School. "It's new and different and eyes wide as saucers, but so are the mouths; they're very excited to be here."

Campbell-Bentley is expecting about 400 students at the K-6 school this year, although they won't have final numbers for a few days.

"We run what we call club days, opportunities for students to explore a variety of activities and kind of get involved with some of the teacher passions that we have in the school."

She's also looking forward to the first full school year with the new accessible Greentree playground.

"It was well used this summer; we were really excited to see that," she told Drum FM. "One thing that we're looking at changing is going to just one recess now that we have space for everybody."

St. Anthony's Catholic School and schools in the Prairieland Regional Division all resumed classes last Thursday, August 30.
