This past weekend was very rough for residents in Rosedale and along the Wayne road (Highway 10X) with flooding.
One resident, Adam Henrickson, hit the double whammy with his home catching fire late Monday night. His cousin, Matthew Shack, decided to help out by creating a GoFundMe page.
"To cover the things like insurance won't cover, all those things you don't think of at the time of the claim until you need them one day," Shack explained.
"I haven't spoken to him directly, but my understanding is he wasn't covered by flood insurance, but he was covered by fire. We're still waiting to hear from the insurance company on that one."
The goal is set at $5,000.
"I thought that was a pretty good goal to help offset the costs. It's been bounced around between our family, lots have reached out and we're starting to pick up a whole bunch of speed," added Shack. "As far as I know it will be open as long as we keep it open."
Henrickson managed to get a few important items out of the home before the fire hit and it's all thanks to those who helped him out when the water came flowing in.
"I would like to say that Adam is really grateful to all his friends, family and neighbours who showed up to give him a hand," expressed Shack.
