Gardening enthusiasts in Hanna are eager to get growing.
Hanna Community Gardens held a meeting this week to discuss who wants garden plots this year and new ideas for the future. Last year the group expanded the number of plots available and they're hoping to fill them this summer.
"It's done very well," said garden organizer Barb Burgemeister. "Last year we could have used more plots but we just didn't have the room last year, so we thought we'll expand it and see what happens. That's why we expanded last year."
Burgemeister estimates the group has been going for about five years. She says water, garden tools and seeds are provided for people wanting to garden this year.
"All they have to do is plant it and weed it," she concluded.
Alberta Health Services has put togther a guide for individuals or groups looking to start a community garden in the region.
