For the fourth year, Fun Team Hockey athlete Nicholas Chapin risked a chance of poor weather and organized a BBQ at Freson Bros. to raise money for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

He explained that Fun Team asks its athlete to do more to help their community than simply donating their own food.

"Fun Team gets members to go out into their communities to get money instead of just getting food from their pantry," elaborated Chapin. "And, four years ago, I decided to do a BBQ and this is the fourth year."

Traditionally, BBQs are held in the summer months, but, with Fun Team starting so late in the year, there's little choice but to hold it in December. Plus, said Chapin, it's the perfect time of year for the fundraiser because there's such a big need at the Food Bank.

"[Fun Team] starts in October, November and we've done [the BBQ] in December most of the time. We have a benefit game that we bring our food donations to. It's for the holidays."

The money collected will be used to purchase food for the Salvation Army's Food Bank.

"We're going to do the shopping on Wednesday. We look online to see what they're in need of and, this year, they say peanut butter and a whole bunch of different stuff that you wouldn't expect."
