Drumheller drivers gassed up for a good cause on Tuesday, September 18 as Westview Co-op held its annual Fuel Good Day.

"We are raising funds for a community organization to help out our communities, both here in Drumheller, Olds and Carstairs," explained David Friesen, the asset protection advisor for Westview Co-op in Drumheller. "Each are running this through their gas bars supporting the organizations that need a hand, which in turn give back to our communities."

"Drumheller is specifically supporting the Lions Youth Campground," he added. "All funds raised today (Sep. 18), which is five cents a litre for every litre pumped from first thing this morning until we close tonight, will be given back to the Lions Youth Camp."

In addition to the fuel-based donation from Co-op, local Lions Club members held a fund raising barbeque beside the Drumheller gas bar.

"This is the second year for doing the Fuel Good Day: last year was a huge success," noted Fiesen. "This year, I think will be just as good as it was last year, if not better, as more people are becoming aware of it."

The total from Tuesday's Fuel Good Day and Lion's Club barbeque is a little over $700, which Friesen said was about the same, or maybe a little bit better than last year.
