Fire crews responded to a house fire on Saturday February 3rd in Big Valley.

99.5 Drum FM spoke with Stettler Regional Fire Chief Mark Dennis.

"We were paged to a fire in Big Valley at 14:57 on Saturday. It was a structure fire and it originally started in the garage, and spread from the garage to the house." Dennis stated that they were back in service at 21:20, and it took the afternoon and most of the evening to get the blaze under control.

It wasn't just the Big Valley Fire Department that responded to the call. "We are a Regional Fire Department," said Dennis, "we had units respond from Stettler, Big Valley, and Byemoor, so we had seven units there."

Dennis advised 99.5 Drum FM that there were no injuries to the public, or to responding fire fighters, "When we got there on scene everyone was evacuated from the home, there was no injuries to report. They got their family out and their pets, but unfortunately the structure has significant damage to it."

No word yet on what started the fire, the investigation is still ongoing.
