To support projects in local communities, Farm Credit Canada provides money to its offices across Canada to donate to worthy groups in their areas.

On Oct. 10, the Drumheller branch gave away some of that money. Customer Service Assistant Mandy Celik presented the cheque at the Drumheller Fire Department.

"The Drumheller FCC office donated a cheque for $1,000 to the Drumheller Fire Department Association as part our Community Investment Committee Budget."

FCC has five separate funds to give back to communities: AgriSpirit Fund, Expression Fund, Regina Spirit Fund, Aboriginal Student Empowerment Fund and the 4-H Club Fund.

"Part of this budget is one way that we believe in enriching the community where we live and work, and we feel that the fire department does a very important job of protecting the community where we live."

Drumheller isn't the only community that can expect a donation this year.

"We will be donating more money to the Delia Fire Department as well as the Hanna Fire Department this year," explained Celik.

Tuesday's cheque to the Drumheller Fire Department was accepted by Drumheller Fire Captain Jordan Harper and Drumheller Fire Chief Bruce Wade.
