This hot weather is causing consternation for the people charged with protecting the rest of us from fire.

Wheatland County, west of Drumheller, has just issued a fire advisory cancelling all burning permits effective immediately.

A statement from the county office says the risk of grass fire is thought to be 'modest' at the moment.

Recreational camp fires in approved fire pits are still allowed in Wheatland, along with burning barrels and other regulated incinerators, solid and liquid fuel barbecues and campstoves.

A copy of the fire advisory can be accessed through this link.
