East Coulee is home to the famous Atlas Coal Mine, but did you know that there are many other wonderful things about East Coulee? East Coulee was named number three on the list of top nine places in Canada to own a retirement home for under $100,000.

99.5 Drum FM caught up with East Coulee resident, Jamie Gerlinger to find out what she loves most about living in East Coulee.

"I was really looking forward to the idea of people in the community getting together, to do things for the community, or do things for people living in the community; and it is really nice having the kids in a small area because everybody knows them and they can ride their bikes and they can go to the playground," explained  Gerlinger

East Coulee has a population of 148 people living there, but in the summer Gerlinger says that it tends to get a little busier.

"We have lots of people driving around looking for the School Museum, and looking for the Coal Mine; and looking for gas stations actually. On some of their GPS is says that we have gas, and we used to have a gas station forever ago but it is not there anymore, and they are very disappointed when they show up and there is no fuel station," advised Gerlinger.

If you are looking for a place to buy a retirement home that you can go to, to relax East Coulee might just be the place for you.

"It's really quiet, and everybody has a good lot and you are close to the river," said Gerlinger.
