Students in Drumheller are now officially on Christmas holidays.

Santa CSanta Claus.

School wrapped up on Friday, December 22 at Drumheller Valley Secondary School with a pancake breakfast.

"This is an annual tradition at DVSS," said DVSS Principal Curtis Lapierre. "We get two Santas to show up for the occasion, everybody gets a candy cane, and the staff cook breakfast for all 500 students."

"We invite the community, seniors, grad sponsors, anyone that has volunteered in some way at the school and we feed everybody breakfast," Lapierre explained.

Each year Lapierre and Vice Principal Brad Teske, dress up as Santa for the event.

"We made enough batter for one thousand pancakes, we had one thousand sausages and pretty much everything by the thousands."

Earlier this month the school hosted their annual Senior's Dinner where students volunteered to help serve and entertain local seniors.

Regular classes resume on January 8.
