The Golden Hills School Division has announced the appointment of Dana Yemen to the position of Associate Principal of Drumheller Valley Secondary School.

Yemen will start her position beginning the 2018/2019 school year.

"The reason that we are moving up to two now is because we have had significant growth here at the school and we are getting close to the 550 mark. It is time now to bring that extra associate on. We grew over 80 kids in numbers here this year," explained DVSS Principal, Curtis Lapierre.

Yemen holds a Bachelor of Physical Education Degree from the University of Alberta, a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Calgary, and will hold a Master of Education in the Field of Educations Leadership from the University of Calgary in June.

"She lives in Three Hills right now, and has been part of the Three Hills School for the last nine years. She has been an instructional coach for the Golden Hills School Division and is just finishing off her Masters this June," advised Lapierre.

In September 2009 she was hired as a teacher in Three Hills School and in February 2018 became an Instructional Coach at Division Office where she currently works with teachers in the areas of planning, instruction, assessment, critical thinking, information technology, classroom management, and other areas of need.

"We are looking forward to having her. She is sharp, she is bright, she is full of energy and she will be a great addition to the school staff," beamed Lapierre.

Her varied teaching experience, extensive coaching background, and the knowledge and skills she has developed as an Instructional Coach will serve her well in her new role. Welcome to the Valley Dana.
