Nearly nine years of service to Drumheller and our very own RCMP Detachment Commander, Kevin Charles is moving on.

Staff Sergeant Kevin Charles has been filling in at the RCMP's Southern Alberta District  as Acting District Advisory NCO.  The Southern District Commander has offered Charles the role to be the permanent District Advisory NCO and he has graciously accepted.

"It's bittersweet for me as well. I mean, Drumheller is home for us." said Charles. "To have to relocate; It's going to be difficult for us."

Charles, as heart-felt as he is having to leave Drumheller, says he is excited for the new challenges that come with his new job responsibilities and that at some point, everyone moves on to better things with the right outlook.

"I'll be based out of a district office that is located outside of Airdrie," explained Charles. "As a District Advisory NCO, I am the middle man between upper management and the Detachment Commanders."Kevin Charles.1

He will be traveling the Southern Alberta area as a part of his job requirements meeting and engaging the many detachments under his watch, including Drumheller.

"I think I'll remember all the terrific relationships I've established over the years," said Charles speaking of the impression made on him during his time in Drumheller. "Both working and personal between all the valley residents and business owners; It's just been amazing. Those are friends, I think, (that) will last quite a bit longer."

Charles has taken on the position effective immediately and will continue to commute to his new job until his personal business in Drumheller has concluded.

On behalf of DrumFM and Drumheller Online, we extend our gratitude towards District Advisory NCO, Kevin Charles for serving the community of Drumheller and wish him the utmost success in his new career path.
