Drumheller's RCMP Detachment is gaining a new Staff Sergeant in the next few weeks. Staff Sergeant Ed Borque will be joining the detachment in May.
"Well, I am just finishing up in Redwater right now, it is just north-east of Edmonton. It has been great and I really have enjoyed my time up in the Redwater area," explained Borque. "I have already been down on a different number of occasions to visit with a few of our members and get a bit of the lay of the land. I am just really looking forward to getting in and just trying to contribute to the positive work that is being done there already."
Borque has already visited that valley in previous trips with his family and is very excited to start work here in the valley.
"Drumheller is such a wonderful town to visit and holiday at that we have done that a number of times with our kids. My wife and I are just really excited. The response that we have received already and just the welcome has been really wonderful already from a lot of the people we have already met. I grew up in a small town farming community, and that is where my heart is at. I much rather be there than a big city any day," continued Borque.
According to Borque, he has been deployed with the RCMP 12 times, at numerous locations, but is looking forward to the challenge that Drumheller may bring.
"I am just looking for more challenges and adventures. I actually had a buddy say 'Is that where they send all the dinosaur police to is Drumheller?' and I was like yeah that's a good one," he chuckled.
Borque will start work with the Drumheller RCMP in the beginning weeks of May.
