The Drumheller Health Foundation accepted a thick cheque yesterday.

The Calgary Heart to Heart Society, which aims to offer support to individuals with heart disease, presented a cheque to the Drumheller chapter of Heart to Heart.

"It was for $12,600. $10,000 of it was actually from the Heart to Heart Calgary group and it was to go towards Heart to Heart in Drumheller for the cardiac rehab centre here, so we can equipment that is needed," explained Chelsea Peters, Drumheller Health Center Administrative Secretary.

Drumheller did work hard for a chunk of the money by donating their time to a fundraising casino night for Heart to Heart Calgary.

"The Drumheller Heart to Heart group, they help us with our casino. They send personnel to help us out because we can't seem to get enough volunteers. Our own group is shrinking because we are getting older, and Drumheller helps us out which is very much appreciated. And in return, whatever number of positions they fill, they get a share," added Bill Andrietz who presented the cheque form Calgary Heart to Heart to Drumheller.

The money will be going towards new equipment which Drumheller and Area Health Foundation Chairmen, Doug Stanger, explained was well needed.

"We have needs for a lot of things, so the equipment that they help purchase today will help in cardiac, intensive care and in the emergency room. It will serve a lot of needs."
