The Town of Drumheller and the Province of Alberta have installed two new signalled pedestrian crosswalks last week.
The signalled crosswalks are at the Railway Avenue and Second Street West location, near Dollarama and
Neighbours Corner Pub.  The second location is across the bridge, on Bridge and Grove Street, near the Travelodge. newcrosswalkCrosswalk at 2 St. W. and Railway Ave.
We asked Trish Elson how important the controlled crosswalks are for her?

"It's really important because of the snow and the ice and the winter conditions. It makes it really hard to cross the road otherwise."

The crosswalks are on a major throughway in Drumheller and have been quite a concern for our walking community and tourists for a few years.

Terry Murphy walks frequently around Drumheller and we asked him if it was better to have traffic controlled crosswalks? "Believe it or not, yes, and it's getting busier every year".

Drumheller pedestrians now can look forward to a safe crossing, but still, have to be cautious of on-coming traffic. Some vehicles still have difficulty stopping in time at controlled crosswalks.
